Sliding Scale Guidelines

We believe it is of utmost important to acknowledge that different folks have very different access to resources in our communities, and that there are many factors involved in the way individuals' finances fluctuate over time. In response, we strive to keep all of our offerings available on a sliding scale to remain accessible to the widest range of folks possible.

In our experience, sliding scales only meet the intended goals and function properly with clear guidelines and when all users are thoughtful and honest about how they utilize the scale.

Some organizations require tax records or other proof of wealth and income in order to use supplemented tiers of the sliding scale. This sliding scale is intentionally  honor-based and notably not income-based. Please read the guidelines for our various tiers below before registering for our programs and thanks for ensuring the sustainability of our offerings and of the sliding scale system!

Supporting: This is level supports members who do not have access to financial resources for leisure activities and need to utilize the Supported tier for the offering. *This tier is for you if you have access to financial security on your own or through your family, own property, have personal savings, comfortably meet your basic needs through your employment or can comfortably not work, and can partake in activities like leisure plane travel, multiple wellness classes, or purchase many wants throughout the year.

Basic: The price the practitioner would charge all members in the absence of a sliding scale. This rate is for those who do not honestly find themselves reflected in either of the other tier descriptions and who are not in a place to pay the supporting price for the offering.

Supported: Supported tuition is for those for whom it is a struggle to maintain access to basic needs such as housing, food, healthcare, child care, or are financially debilitated by debt. If budgeting for our offerings means cutting into funds for housing, food, etc. please utilize this level as well as our installment option! This level is also for those who have experienced generational and systemic disadvantage in accessing resources. Additional / full scholarships beyond the Supported rate are available in a limited capacity for BIPOC and disabled members!

Thanks to all for using the sliding scale ethically so we can continue to offer discounted programming for those in need of support in order to join. To maintain our sliding scale for the future, we must stress that it is not appropriate for those with higher accumulative degrees of societal privilege, members of the owning class, those budgeting for many various leisure activities, or folks who have abundant access to resources but are practicing voluntary simplicity to pay lower tiers of the sliding scale.
